Winter is the high season for a stink bug infestation. Active during spring and summer in the beginning of the autumn they start looking for a cosy place to hibernate and often choose houses and apartment buildings somewhere near the gardens and croplands they feed on. They can easily get to your house without you noticing and stay in the walls or under the furniture for a couple of month until one day the sun will come out and make them think it’s spring again. That’s exactly when you meet the bugs in the middle of winter.
To prevent finding stink bugs in your house, watch out for cracks and holes they can use for a way in. Isolate your fireplace when it’s not in use, seal cracks around doors and windows with caulk and  cover the vents with screens.
All the stink bugs probable trails into your house are covered in our article.
