There is a few herbs and natural pesticides stink bugs prefer to stay away from. Besides soapy water we’ve already told you about, there is Diatomaceous Earth, garlic, catnip, mint and neem. Diatomaceous Earth is often used as a pesticide for all kinds of bugs, but when dealing with stink bugs you must choose the one that has not been heat-treated, Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth will be a right choice here. Diatomaceous Earth breaks a bug protective layer and makes it dehydrate and die.
Stink bugs are smelly creatures and there are also smells they hate. One of them is garlic. You can make a spray from garlic powder and water solution and apply it to places where you have been seeing the bugs. Garlic doesn’t kill bugs, but will work as an effective repellent. To repel bugs you can also make water spray with mint oil (ten drops on two glasses) or grow catnip on your windowsill or in the garden. There is also neem oil, which has the strangest effect on bugs: it disrupts their abilities to eat and lay eggs, so after a few month the infestation of your house will end for good.
We’ve covered pretty much every aspect of a stink bug infestation in our article.
